Emergency Obstetric Medevac from Korobaka, Usino-Bundi District | 20 January 2026

An emergency medevac request was received from Vincent Kumara, MP for Usino-Bundi on Monday, following an urgent medical evacuation at Korobaka Village, Ward 1, Gama LLG in Madang Province.

Patient being airlifted into Modilon in Madang Province for further medical assistance.

The request was coordinated on the ground by a community leader, who reported a high-risk obstetric case involving a 32 year old female patient from Korobaka Village. The patient has passed her expected delivery date.

She was experiencing mild to moderate labour pain which did not progress to active labour causing prolonged labour.

Due to the seriousness of the condition, the patient was airlifted to Modilon General Hospital in Madang for further management and safe delivery.

Usino-Bundi District, made possible through the support of Hon. Vincent Kumar, MP for Usino-Bundi, who continues to play a key role in enabling life-saving medical evacuations into his district.

The transfer shows how difficult it is for accessibility to basic health care services in most parts of PNG.

This mission highlights the critical role of aeromedical services in supporting maternal health outcomes in remote communities.
