A medical evacuation request was received from a council following a village assessment in Kesengen Village, Nawaeb District of Morobe Province.

Coordination was conducted with who reported a high-risk pregnancy involving, a 29 year old mother who is pregnant with the 8th child and, who has seven children.
She developed lower back and chest pain two weeks prior, with the pain becoming increasingly severe. That caused shortness of breath which might lead to threat to the patient's pregnancy.
At the time of assessment, she was conscious and alert but pale, causing immobility.
The patient was carried down from Suat Village to Kesingan due to the seriousness of her condition and the remoteness of her location.

The nearest health facility capable of providing care is Torowa Health Centre, located approximately one day’s walk from the village, making ground transfer unsafe given the patient’s condition.

With clear weather conditions over the mountain tops, medevac approval was granted and arrangements were made for patient pickup at the Kesengen Village Soccer Field.
This mission soars the critical importance of aeromedical services in ensuring timely access to emergency maternal healthcare for remote and isolated communities.
