The referral was issued by the attending medical officer at Simberi Gold Mine Clinic, confirming the patient is suffering from a life-threatening condition requiring immediate medical specialist care.

The patient has been classified as Triage 1, indicating an emergency. A medevac request was made for the patient to be airlifted from Simberi Airstrip and transferred to Lae International Hospital (LIH) for urgent treatment and surgical assessment.

Coordination was underway and deployed the helicopter, after assessing the weather conditions, and ensure receiving medical teams are prepared for the patient's arrival.

Captain Jurgen Ruh, CEO of Manolos Aviation and the MAMA Foundation, said the organisation remains committed to supporting medical emergencies wherever they occur:

“Distance has never stopped us. If there is a need and a life at risk, we will do everything we can to respond. Support for these medevacs ensures we can continue reaching people no matter how far they are.”

The MAMA Foundation and Manolos Aviation continue to provide critical medevac services across some of Papua New Guinea’s most remote and challenging locations.
