Patrick Basa has become the first district member to make a donation on behalf of Kabwum District, contributing K100,000 to the MAMA Foundation Clinic Infrastructure in support of its lifesaving medical evacuation work across not just Morobe Districts, but Papua New Guinea.

Mountain Area Medical Airlift (MAMA) Foundation, the Non-Government Organization (NGO) of Manolos Aviation was incorporated on September 1, 2020. MAMA Foundation focuses in helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) for partner districts, provincial health authorities, the public and private sectors. Initially to support the provision and extension of health services to rural parts of Papua New Guinea, that is inaccessible by road. There’s been more than 3000 medevacs done by MAMA Foundation since its inception.
Representatives of the MAMA Foundation welcomed the contribution, noting that the funds will directly assist emergency medical evacuations, specialist treatment, and patient support services for critically ill patients, including mothers and newborns.

The MAMA Clinic is situated at Manolos Aviation’s airbase at Lae’s Downtown in Aerial Boulevard. The clinic project started earlier this in February and is progressing into shape as this donation will give a boost to the clinic’s progress.
“This donation will go a long way in helping us save lives with our MAMA Foundation,” Nellie Tumai, Commercial and Compliance Manager for Manolos Aviation said. “Mr Basa’s support, made on behalf of Kabwum District, sets an important example of district-level leadership in addressing healthcare gaps faced by rural communities.”

Mr Basa said his decision to support the MAMA Foundation was motivated by the organisation’s proven track record in delivering lifesaving interventions where they are needed most.
“The work MAMA Foundation does is truly lifesaving,” he said. “I am proud to make this contribution on behalf of Kabwum District and hope it encourages others to support initiatives that directly impact the wellbeing of our people.”

The MAMA Foundation has played a critical role in coordinating medical evacuations both within Papua New Guinea and overseas, relying heavily on donations and partnerships to fund complex and often costly operations.
The Foundation acknowledged Mr Basa as the first donor representing Kabwum District, describing the contribution as a powerful statement of unity, compassion, and responsibility toward improving healthcare access for all Papua New Guineans.
