A mother and her newborn, who were earlier medevaced out of Angai Village in Gulf Province following an emergency delivery, were safely repatriated home yesterday at 2pm after receiving treatment at ANGAU Memorial Provincial Hospital in Lae.

The mother gave birth just minutes before Manolos Aviation’s helicopter arrived in Angai on October 20. Both were initially found wrapped together in a traditional tree-bark blanket before being airlifted to Lae for urgent medical care. After several days of observation and treatment, medical staff at ANGAU declared both mother and baby stable and fit to return home. Manolos Aviation once again carried out the repatriation flight, departing Lae at 2pm and arriving in Angai at 3pm under clear skies.
Accompanying the family were donations of essential supplies and baby items sent by supporters to help the mother and her newborn settle back into village life.

Manolos Aviation and the MAMA Foundation extended their heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed towards their ongoing medevacs. Some of these generous donations were among the supplies sent with the mother and her child on their return journey to Angai Village.
Captain Jurgen Ruh, CEO of Manolos Aviation, said the successful repatriation marked the completion of a life-saving mission that began with teamwork and compassion. “It’s always rewarding to see a case like this come full circle,” Captain Ruh said. “Our team was there when the mother needed urgent help, and now we’re able to return her and her baby safely home with the community’s support behind them. Every life matters, and every flight counts.”

The family was warmly welcomed by relatives and villagers upon arrival in Angai, greeted with smiles, gifts, and prayers of gratitude.
